The distraction of cell phone usage while driving.

Over the years, the government allowed people to use cell phones while driving. Today, however cell phones are now illegal to be used while driving. Cell phones are now illegal because it causes accidents, distractions, and you can get big tickets.
People who use cell phones while driving have caused many accidents. People often argue about that the accidents they cause while talking in the phone and driving is not their fault. However, people are into the conversations that they don’t want to hang up and that is how accidents happen. A junior at South East High School said, “They are a big distraction because my aunt and I were going to the mall and she was on the phone and since she was so into the conversation she was almost going to crash but she didn’t because she exits the freeway right away. That’s why I think cell phones are a big distraction.” An example that cell phone usage while driving is a big problem is because when you are trying to park you get distracted on the phone that you don’t even look at the mirrors to see if you are going to hit the car in back of you. Cell phones are a bad thing to use while driving because once you realize you did something wrong because of cell phone usage you doesn’t want to take responsibility.
Cell phone usage while driving also causes many distractions. Most people claim that cell phones are not a distraction because while they use it they don’t get distracted. However, people may say they don’t get distracted, but in reality they do because they can’t concentrate in talking in the and handling the steering wheel at the same time. For instance, when you stop at a red light and your talking in the phone you won’t notice that the light changed because you are so into the conversation that the cars would have to honk at you so you can move. Also, while driving and texting you have to look up and down to text and you may think that you are driving right when you are actually driving like if you were drunk.Therefore, cell phones shouldn’t be encouraged while driving.
Cell phone usage while driving can give you a big ticket. Some people may get away from getting a ticket because when they see a cop they hide their phone. However, even though the people know they can get a ticket they still use their cell phones. Drivers using cell phones while driving are more as bad as drunk drivers. They are worst because drunk drivers do not know what they are doing but drivers that talk and texts do know what they are doing. Everyone knows the consequences and risks and the laws.
It is our responsibility to know what we are doing and to follow the laws. It is important to know the laws because we don’t want any accidents, tickets, and we don’t also want to risk our lives just because we want to talk to the person that is calling you. Therefore, these are the causes in using cell phones while driving.
